c Hawaii 6, UC Santa Barbara 4: Conner George’s two-run double in the bottom of the eighth broke a 4-4 tie as the Warriors won their second straight game against the Gauchos Saturday in Honolulu.

Kaeo Aliviado led off the eighth with a walk and advanced to second on Marc Flores’ single up the middle. Then George scored both runners with a double to right.

Flores finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored, and Adam Hurley led off the fifth inning with a game-tying solo homer for Hawaii (2-1 Big West, 7-17 overall).

Jon Finn (1-2), who pitched the final 1 1/3 innings, picked up the win. Matt Cooper started and went seven innings, allowing four runs on five hits. He struck out eight and walked two.

UC-Santa Barbara’s Greg Mahle, who pitched 2 1/3 innings in relief of starter Kenny Chapman, took the loss.

Peter Maris gave the Gauchos (1-2, 13-12) a 4-2 lead with a three-run homer off Cooper in the fourth. Robby Nesovic and Newell Cameron added two hits apiece.

SOFTBALL

c Hawaii 6, UC-Davis 2: Loie Kesterson recorded her first collegiate victory with a complete-game five-hitter, and Leisha Liilii capped a four-run first inning with a three-run homer as the Rainbow Wahine swept a doubleheader and ran their winning streak to seven Saturday in Honolulu.

Kesterson walked two and struck out one, allowing a two-out, two-run single to Krista Bava in the second inning.

Before Liilii’s three-run blast, Kelly Majam led off the first with her 12th home run of the season. Liilii and Majam both went 2-for-4 for Hawaii (6-0 Big West, 28-7 overall).

Justine Vela took the loss for the Aggies (0-3, 13-17), allowing five runs on five hits in 3 1/3 innings. She struck out four and walked four.

At the plate, Amy Nunez had two hits.

In the first game, the Rainbow Wahine’s Kayla Wartner broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the fifth with a run-scoring single. Wartner and Jazmine Zamora both went 2-for-3.

Kaia Parnaby went the distance in the circle to get the win, allowing one run on four hits. She struck out six and walked one.

Leah Munden suffered the loss in a complete-game effort, giving up two runs on nine hits. She struck out four and walked one.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL

c UC-Santa Barbara def. Hawaii 25-21, 25-20, 25-19: Evan Licht pounded 18 kills and hit a blistering .433 as the Gauchos finished a two-game sweep of the Warriors Saturday at Stan Sheriff Center.

Austin Kingi added nine kills and five digs, and Miles Evans had seven kills and six digs for UC-Santa Barbara (10-10 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, 13-12 overall), which outhit Hawaii .349-.132.

Sinisa Zarkovic led the Warriors (8-14, 9-16) with seven kills and five digs. Jace Olsen had six kills.
